Jason Kyser is Pro.com’s resident Pro, lending his many years of experience as a home professional to help us provide the best experience for customers and Pro’s alike. Jason has a wealth of knowledge for all things home improvement, especially carpentry. Get to know a little more about him below.

What is your trade?

By trade I am a cabinet-maker, but can do all kinds of carpentry work from framing to finish.

How did you get into it?

It’s kind of a funny story. I was a snowboard instructor in California when I met my would-be wife. On what I thought was a two-week vacation to visit her in England, I ended up staying six months. While I was there, I needed to work, so I started helping my father-in-law’s friend gut and remodel an apartment from a run-down “piece” to a “Grade A” property. I was hooked and couldn’t look back.

What is your favorite thing about what you do?

As a Carpenter, I love taking raw materials and fashioning them into something amazing. I love thrilling people with the end result. At my new gig with Pro.com, I am still motivated by helping people get the end result they want. While I am not an active carpenter anymore, I am lucky in that now I get to use my expertise at larger scale – and I still get to help people.

What question do you get asked the most?

As a Carpenter, it was “How did you make that?”

Now, it’s “Who’s the right person that can help me get this done?”

What is the one tool you can’t live without?

A tape measure, hands down.

What about an App?

What is your favorite home improvement shop in Seattle?

Dunn Lumber

Your favorite spot to eat?

Paseo (thankfully it’s back in action!)

Your drink?

1993 Lagavulin Distillers Edition, Double Matured

Jason will be lending his expertise at our January 29th Ask a Pro event at Peddler Brewery in Ballard. Come and ask him anything you’d like!
