Pro.com expands services and raises $10m financing led by DFJ.

We are thrilled to share that Pro.com has raised a $10 million financing round led by DFJ, with participation from existing investors Maveron, Madrona Venture Group and Two Sigma Ventures. The capital will be used to expand Pro’s home improvement services into 10+ cities across the US.

Each year millions of homeowners in the U.S. spend nearly $400 billion on home renovation, remodeling and improvement projects. Many homeowners have shared that working with contractors can be a stressful experience, one often fraught with problems such as: hard to understand estimates that lack detail, projects that routinely go over budget and over schedule, and a general lack of responsiveness and communication by the contractor.

At Pro.com we are taking a modern, customer-centric approach to the home improvement industry. As a licensed General Contractor we have assembled a skilled, in-house team of carpenters, electricians, and project managers alongside trusted, high-quality specialty subcontractors. Transparency, responsiveness, and continuous communication are the values we bring to every project in order to delight our customers.

What makes our service unique is how we take a technology-first approach to contracting. For example, we have developed a mobile-­friendly quoting engine that delivers an accurate, transparent quote in a fraction of the time it takes the average contractor. We use mobile apps to manage our field staff, capture and convey updates from work sites, and enable digital invoicing and mobile payments. And we’re just getting started. We are in the first inning of delivering a world class experience to each and every homeowner, and we won’t stop until that has been achieved. Our new funding marks the next chapter in Pro’s journey. What’s ahead? Our expansion is focused on offering the most reliable, tech-­enabled GC services in the top cities around the country. We will accelerate our investment in technology, with a goal to provide same-­day and next­-day quotes, and to create a fully digital customer experience across maintenance, home remodeling and new construction projects. We will also accelerate our investment in top talent in order to scale to additional markets and further improve our service.

Bill Bryant from DFJ is joining our Board. Bill comes with a tremendous amount of operating and venture experience from his own entrepreneurial endeavors as well as investments made while he’s been at DFJ. We are honored to have Bill and DFJ as a part of the Pro.com family, as they have a successful track record in making bold bets on game changing technologies and companies like Tesla, Box, Katerra and Redfin.
